I’m frustrated

Flac error: "MIME not supported"

Bloody annoyed with the Twonky android app. It is refusing to send flac files to my WDTV live streaming box - it says "MIME not supported". I know everything is set up correctly because the WDTV live box can play the files when you direct the files to it manually via the remote. Please help!

  • I had already selected the Twonky library and the WDTV live as the default player. I also followed your power off and on advice sadly to no avail.

Bloody annoying because I can stream the flac files to my Galaxy S2 perfectly. How dare the app say the flac file is not supported by my WDTV live!!!!

Not terribly happy with Twonky having recently paid my membership...

  • I tried to replicate the same issue on my system with Twonky Mobile version 2.3.2 installed on Samsung Galaxy S using Twonky library of Twonky Server version 7.0.9 installed on Windows 7 PC on WD live TV connected to Sony BRAVIA KDL32ex710 and I able to play the FLAC audio files.

I suggest you to Try to uninstall the Twonky applications from your devices and reinstall it and check if it fix this issue.

    Let me know your observation.

  • Thanks Navdeep for your efforts. I did try re-installing the app but am getting exactly the same error again.

There is clearly a problem with the Android app which I would like someone to fix. No user error here!

  • I don't know if this might the problem but my player is not a WDTV live, it is a more recent player called a Western Digital TV Live Streaming Media Player:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digit...

However, the app seems to think it is the slightly older WDTV live machine.

  • I don't think this relates to WDTV specifically. I just tried Twonky Mobile and I get the same "mime type not supported" when sending to an XBMC UPnP render on the network. Playing WAV or MP3 works fine. I use BubbleUPnP as well and this has an option to disable mime type check and then it works fine.

So we either need an option on Twonky Mobile to disable the error message or be able to configure Twonky 7 server to stream FLAC ok. I saw somewhere that Mediatomb has a config setting of:

I think this was a fix for the same problem in mediatomb but I could be wrong.

    Cheers

  • I’m fed-up
So where are we with this? I too get the very annoying 'MIME not supported' message when trying to play .flac files from my media PC using Twonky on my Galaxy phone. Twonky works fine with WAV or MP3s but as 95% of my music is recorded in .flac format, this is not much use - and I DO NOT want to re-record all 300+ CDs to my hard disk in WAV format just because Twonky will not work.
Can we get some progress with this problem please..........

  • First I would like to apologize for the untimely delay in responding to your post.

I suggest you to uninstall the Twonky Mobile from your phone and install The Twonky Beam from Google play and try to beam the content and check if it fix this issue.

You can access the local content on Twonky Beam using below steps:

    1) Open Twonky Beam home page.

    2) Tap home button on right upper corner of Twonky Beam home page.

It will show you the list of Twonky server libraries on the same network and the library of that device as well.

Please try the above suggestions and let me know your observations.
